How to Rent a Vacation Home in Canada
There are several benefits of renting a vacation home, especially in Canada, which is home to the Niagara Falls, and has diverse cities for tourists, ranging from the calm capital Ottawa, the huge and diverse Toronto to Vancouver, which offers plenty of opportunities to tourists for engaging in sports and culture.
Renting a vacation home is around 50 to 80 cheaper than hotels in main locations, and allows you to enjoy more space, compared to small hotel rooms. Moreover, a vacation home is much more private, with no disturbance, and allows you to cook and eat at your own leisure, making the most of your family vacation. If you have pets, you will not be able to bring them along on your vacation if you intend to stay in a hotel; however, having a vacation home gives you the luxury to live and stay how you want and fully enjoy your vacation.
Consider your requirements
Before you start hunting for a vacation rental, you will need to establish your requirements. Depending on the size of your family and people who will be accompanying you on the vacation, you will need to select an appropriate property which has all the facilities you require.
Search online for available rentals
You can use the MLS worldwide system, the VRMLS or any other MLS service and select the Canadian province you wish to stay in. The listing service will provide you the results, which will include details including the location of the property, its specifications, number of rooms etc and the agent you need to contact for more information. Usually, the agent’s email address, fax number and office number are provided and you can directly call the agent during work hours to inquire about the particular property.
Even if the property you find does not meet your requirements, contacting the agent can be a good idea, since he/she may be able to refer you to other properties, which are more suited to your needs.
Reserve your stay
Once you have located a vacation house available for rental, you will need to reserve your stay and provide details regarding your arrival and departure. The landlord may also require you to put down a deposit in advance, which you should, only after thoroughly researching everything.
Get a written agreement
After setting up everything, you should seek a written agreement, either by fax or e-mail, which verifies that you will be entitled to stay at the specific vacation house for the stipulated time period. The agreement will also contain other related terms, like time of payment and acceptable methods.
